REQUEST A BOOK REVIEW

IF YOU WISH TO SUBMIT A BOOK FOR MY REVIEW, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

CURRENTLY I AM FULLY BOOKED WITH REVIEW REQUESTS AND AM NO LONGER ACCEPTING BOOKS FOR REVIEW; HOWEVER, I EXPECT TO BE CAUGHT UP BY FEBRUARY 2012. THANK YOU AND PLEASE COME BACK TO SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST AT THAT TIME.

I would love to review every book that is submitted to me. My policy for choosing a book to review employs the 10% rule. With every book I receive I read the first 10% of the book. If it holds my interest I'll complete it and review it. That being said, if I do choose to review your book, then you will know that it made the pick for a good reason. I only review books that inspire me to do so and I will provide you with a vast network of posting throughout the internet once reviewed. If you would like me to review your published work, I will be happy to do so within the guidelines below:

1. WHAT I ACCEPT:

FICTION: Literary fiction, general fiction, fantasy, future/apocalyptic fiction (as long as it is not religious), new age, young adult, historical fiction, mystery, thriller, suspense, and erotica, but only if it is tasteful (think Tobsha Learner).

NON FICTION:Non-Fiction in the categories of Metaphysics, Spirituality (non-denominational religion), New Age Topics, Real Estate, Finance, Politics, Biography, History, Documentary, Personal Account, Memoirs, Career, Social Issues, Environment, and Travel.

2. WHAT I DO NOT ACCEPT
Please, no bodice ripper romances or gothic romances, what I call grocery aisle quickies, thank you. I frown on the genre altogether and so you will not receive a good review if your book is a typical formula romance. I also do not like anything with too much blood and gore in it. And I definitely will not accept any literature of any kind that espouses hatred of any groups, individuals or organizations.

I currently am rejecting all vampire novels. I've just had my fill of them.

3. HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR BOOK FOR REVIEW:

Please e-mail me at TheQuillGuild[at]aol[dot]com. (Of course do not literally type at and dot)
In the subject line, type "Literary Magic Review Request" and in the body of your e-mail provide the following information:

Title
Author
ISBN
Genre or genres
Brief synopsis
A link to a website containing your writing and/or an excerpt from the book or any of your writing. Two or three paragraphs will do.

Once I have received your e-mail I will respond promptly and let you know the address to send a copy of the book. Once received I will post a review within 30 days, or if there is a back log, it could be longer. In any case, I will respond to you with an answer and if accepted, with a quoted time frame in which you can expect to see your review posted and a full list of the various sites on which you will find your review.

Books must be submitted as a physical book and books will not be returned. Any books I receive will eventually make it to my book giveaway efforts so in this way you will still get a continuation of your book promoted to the world.

To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, all reviews will begin with mention of how the complimentary copy of the book or advanced reading copy was received.

4. REVIEW RATING SYSTEM:

I give honest reviews! Even if the book passes my 10% described above, you can expect nothing but an impartial review from me. I will always find something good to say, but if there is something wrong with the plot, the punctuation and grammar, or the book is unclear or just poorly written, I will say so.
In addition to the actual writing, a book's presentation will also be taken into consideration. Books that feature a badly rendered cover or low quality paper and binding will suffer mainly due to the fact that a cover is a key marketing tool available to the author. However, a book will never be judged solely by its cover.

My rating system grants "Magic Books" on a scale of 1 to 5 as follows:

1 Magic Book = Poor Rating, based on lack of grammatical accuracy, flagrant typos, bad formatting and or poor support of plot or thesis.  Difficult to read through due to trip-ups in the flow of the text caused by the aforementioned flaws.

2 Magic Books = Fair Rating, based on a reasonably good read that with improvement could gain luster. Ability to read through in a sitting was OK. In a case like this I will also write directly to the author with suggestons for improvement.

3 Magic Books = Good Rating, based on a nice flow of words, balanced with good grammar, formatting, and a fairly solid theme or storyline. Reads well with a hint of magic.

4 Magic Books = Very Good Rating, based on evidence of language and voice mastery, good grammar, formatting, and a well laid out theme or storyline. Reads well and has a commendable amount of magic in that it propells the reader onward.

5 Magic Books = Excellent Rating, based on a superb mastery of language, excellent handle on voice, character, exceptional grammar, formatting, and a bulletproof plot, or in the case of nonfiction, theme support. The book has true magic in that the reader cannot put it down.
